Ten-part short documentary series

Do you remember buying your first car, moving out of home for the first time, losing your virginity, your first heartbreak, maybe even that first drink? These rites of passage help shape who we are and mark important transitions in our journey through life.

The production interviewed more than fifty people between the ages sixteen and eighty and from very diverse walks of life. Many of the stories are deeply personal and range from comic to tragic, shameful to sublime.  As these shared experiences are revealed, it’s hard not to recall our own Firsts.

The First Kiss and other Rites of Passage explores these shared human narratives through intimate interviews and as the series unfolds these raw, unscripted stories reveal the profound effects that rites of passage have on all our lives. A sense of connectedness prevails as we come to realize and appreciate our own unique history and the experiences that helped to shape the people we become.
